WinterMute's 2020 Birthday Donation Drive

Post by WinterMute » Tue Jun 02, 2020 12:27 am

June again already and another year older. Where does the time go?

$363.85 of $420 target raised so far.

If you like the toolchains and you'd consider buying me a beer if you lived nearby then please consider a donation. The Support devkitPro page has a nice list of (tongue in cheek) reasons to donate. We also have a Patreon Page too for anyone who would consider more regular support.

Recently there have been some requests to provide aarch64 binaries of the tools so to make things a little more interesting this year we've decided that if we manage to pull in $420 in donations in the month of June then you lovely people can get yourselves a freshly baked aarch64 hosted toolchain. Which one should be first when we manage this amazing achievement? Vote for your favourite in the poll above!

Here are a few facts and figures from the last year in devkitPro toolchain development.

Proving that I still have no idea when to stop shaving that Yak, there are now 144 library packages and 23 tool packages

In the past year we've made 2 devkitA64 updates, 2 devkitARM updates and one devkitPPC update. We've added 3 new tool packages and released 8 tool package updates.

For Switch we've added 10 new library packages with a further 24 updates to existing packages. libnx has seen 7 updates in that time.

3DS has added 5 library packages, updated 14 more and libctru has seen 4 updates this year.
While there are currently fewer packages for the older consoles we support we have kept what we have building and working with the latest tools. We do intend to add more packages for those in the future as it makes sense.

The June 2020 update brings us up to 148 library packages and 23 tool packages. We've now brought devkitPPC up to gcc 10.1.0 like the other toolchains giving homebrew coders access to the latest C++ standards on gamecube, wii & wiiu as well.

The latest in our June 2020 update series brings us a nice set of wii sdl libraries and raises the number of packages to 156!

Still no love for devkitPPC in our poll though :(

Would people prefer a twitter poll? Binaries for a different host?

The latest in our June 2020 update series brings us a nice set of gamecube sdl libraries and raises the number of packages to 161!

devkitARM and devkitA64 are running neck & neck in our poll now. Who's going to break the tie?

$363.85 of our $420 target raised. Less than $60 to go.

With immense thanks to our generous donors we raised $493.85 and expanded our build infrastructure to include aarch64 linux. The .deb installer for arm64 can be found at https://github.com/devkitPro/pacman/releases/latest and you can, of course, add our repos to an aarch64 arch install uing the instructions at wiki/devkitPro_pacman#Customising_Exist ... an_Install
