render miis in homebrew application

Hello, I have a bit of a quick question regarding Rendering Mii's How the hell does it work? as I'm making a Quake3/unreal tournament inspired multiplayer shooter for the 3DS and I thought using the miis as characters would be funny and I can render the body just fine as that's a constant 3d model that at most stretches and rotates, but the face is perplexing me as to how the hell the 3DS turns a bunch of seemingly arbitrary numbers into a face (or a hamburger) I've read up on the documentation at 3dbrew about Miis but there is little to no information about how that data is rendered (i.e sprite anchor points, sprite projection onto the face, etc) so I was wondering if any of y'all could point me in the direction of the info I so desire?
