change installation filepath

Post by deathbang69 » Wed Jan 06, 2010 5:46 am

i dont have an admin account on my computer.
does it make a difference if i install it on my flash drive elsewhere and then use the environment on my computer?
or better yet does anyone know how to find the password short of hiding a camera somewhere? no command prompts either.
running windows vista home. thanks in advance.

Well there are ways of recovering a lost Vista Admin password - and google is your friend in that case.

As for the installation of the devkit toolchains on a flash drive IIRC it's possible to do but you need to run a batch script to add the missing paths and defines before every compile attempt, so not sure how easy it would be. In fact I'm not sure of what actually need to be added to the path or envionment variables to get the toolchain to work from a flash drive.

you need to set the DEVKITPRO and DEVKITARM enviroment variables and add the path to msys bin directory.

edit: just realised its for devkitPPC instead of devkitARM. in that case you need to set DEVKITPPC instead of DEVKITARM, and I'm not sure if it would work...
