Saying goodbye

Post by Sylus101 » Wed Jan 20, 2010 4:16 pm

Sorry to make a lame post like this here, but since there's not really an off-topic space, it was the best place.

I wanted to give a very big thank you to everyone on this forum for sticking with all of my questions over the last year or two. From transitioning away from PALib to my recent foray into 3D, libnds has been tons of fun and taught me more than I dreamed I'd learn about game programming.

I can't say if it's for good or not, but I'm not likely to be working on any DS projects for some time. I don't want to go on about why, I just wanted to stop by and tip my hat to the people that made an amazing toolchain and my initial dreams of creating a game come true.

All the best to everyone, keep the DS alive!

yea I read your move from DS to android on your blog.

I've always enjoyed reading your post and trying to anwser your questions (or reading the anwsers from somebody else, if I didn't knew it).

I wish you good luck with your development for android and java, and hopefully you'll like java better than me :P .

Thank you for this. Java is growing on me... but really slowly. I've been coding so much closer to the hardware for so long now that it feels so weird just trusting everything the the VM. I'm also hearing garbage collection nightmares, so things in that light are rough. Still, I'm learning how to use the JNI so I'll be doing as much native C code as possible, particularly for any 3D engine code.

Thanks elhobbs, if it weren't for you and StevenH I wouldn't know what I do now about 3D dev. OpenGL ES is different than the OpenGL(ish) API on the DS but has been interesting learning.
