WPA

Post by spectre1989 » Wed Jun 24, 2009 5:24 am

OK so I know normally DS games can only connect to wifi with wep, but is the hardware still capable? IE could I make a custom app that can connect to wpa wifi given the user enters the key?

Cheers

Any chance of an explanation why? Not that I don't believe you, I'm just interested. I did a module at university where we programmed some fairly simple wifi drivers in assembly, so I might be able to understand it.

EDIT: Just occurred to me, is the answer that it's technically possible but the DS lacks the processing power?

Well, you asked if the hardware was capable which I assumed meant was there WPA support in the wifi chip, which there isn't.

In theory it could be done using software but Sgstair would be the expert on that, I'm not sure how far he got on testing.

I'm pretty sure that it it would be possible, nintendo would have added it at some point. but then again, I'm not to sure, so don't take my word for it.
