using this file,
http://rapidshare.com/files/335861359/Quantum2.it, the mmutil.exe crashed when creating the soundbank. Clearly there is something in this .it which the compiler does not like. Can anyone help out with this?

Just wanted to add a few things:
I created this in OpenMPT, it plays fine in there, when I play it in ModPlug Player it seems to play slower than it should (should be 290bpm), maybe indicating something is wrong.
I also notice that when playing it in MPP it lists the total time as 37 seconds, this is where a sound seems to 'hang' when listening in MPP despite me telling it to stop the sound before there.

Perhaps I should ask the question differently:
With respect to mmutil crashing, what are the known causes?

OpenMPT adds some of its own extensions to the IT format. mmutil/maxmod only supports the original IT format/features. You mentioned 290 bpm? The maximum tempo setting should be 255, but I'm not really sure how this would crash the converter...

What would you recommend doing, in regard to formatting and features, to make it compatible with mmutil/maxmod.
Or perhaps you could recommend a tracker that that would not add such things.

I tried saving in compatibility mode too, that didn't help. I assume that removed the nonstandard data that may have been added by OpenMPT?

Okay I checked out the module... There's a few stereo samples in there, those are probably making it crash (and I should probably check for those and spew out an error in stead of crashing)... The DS doesn't support stereo samples either, so convert those to mono somehow and it shouldn't crash.

It's been a long time this thread.
The problem is still there eKid even after removing the stereo stuff. I think in the end Chris Down gave up on trying to get it to work.
Could you point me towards some tutorials for making music optimized for maxmod and towards some tools?
