questions about DSi increased CPU speed

Post by loki » Wed Mar 17, 2010 3:47 pm

hi there.

how can i use the speed increase of the DSi compared to the DS?

or is full speed used by default? dont really think it is, since running
my app on emulator and DSi is the same speed. i just don't have a normal DS
to test the difference.

i am currently developing a prototype which is really slow and could make use of the
increased CPU speed of the DSi, being exlusive to the DSi is also not a problem in my case.

If it is not compiled with the DSi in mind, then it isn't a DSi app. The reason why it runs the same on the DSi and an emulator is because it is using the regular DS mode, as it is compiled that way.

I don't believe compiling to DSi is available yet, but the tools are being prepped for it.

All code that is compiled with the latest (r28 onwards IIRC) devkitARM toolchains can run on the DSi in DSi mode (extra speed, camera support etc) BUT there is no way to run the code in DSi mode yet, apart from a couple of lucky people that have some launcher code that I've seen running on DSi's. Until those lucky people (and they know who they are...) release it your S.O.L at running any homebrew in pure DSi mode.
