Is it worth programing for the gba? The ds and the psp are much more powerful.

You just answered your own question. The only person who can determine "is it worth it" is you. It depends on your interests, your goals, and your objective. You're the only one who knows those things.

I got all excited about developing for the GBA, but I found that the community is almost nonexistent now.
I entered this world about 10 years too late.

the community is not much active nowadays, true, but there are lots of docs around and probably you would also have some support from oldtimers...
