Newb needs help with wiimotes

Post by roy » Tue Nov 24, 2009 8:42 pm

I recently downloaded the latest PCC parts, and can successfully build and run apps. The video parts seem ok, but about 1-2 sec after an app starts, the led on the remote goes out (so I get no wpad buttons).

If I download something already compiled, all goes ok, but things I compile, no. Have tried this with examples, template and nehe-lesson7 -- pics and text work, but no comm with remote.

Is there something obvious I am doing wrong? Any suggestions would be welcome, as it is hard to play with anything that you can't talk to.

If it matters: Wii is close to 2 yrs old, devkit just downloaded, cheap 4 gig kingston sd card, bannerbomb and loadmii to start apps.

Thanks.

I'd suggest using the homebrew channel for running code, it may be some interaction with loadmii that causes the wiimote initialisation to fail.

Excellent!!!!! Many thanks. Evidently loadmii is NOT a good way to start apps. Not having homebrew currently installed, I just made my app (lesson7.dol) the boot.dol, and bannerbomb loads it successfully. The led goes out at 1-2 sec (as it seems to for everything), BUT it come back on -- great.
