devkitARM Installation Troubles!

Good afternoon,

First things first, I am new to this website and new to home brew development in general, so 'hello, nice to meet you all'.

Now, I'm trying to install the devkit software from source forge(latest version, although i've had the same problem with older versions), when ever it gets part way through the installation process ('Downloading libgba - 20060720.tar.bz2') a little message pops up saying that 'Your internet connection seems to be not permitted or dropped out, please reconnect and click RETRY to resume installation', even though I don't think it has. Ive tried using several browsers for the download, IE, Firefox and chrome and they all have the same problem. I checked the windows firewall settings and I have 'devkitARM_r23b-win32' and 'devkitProUpdater - 1.4.7' both as exceptions.

Are there any other processes that I need to allow through my firewall for the installation to work?, or can anybody think of anything else that could be going wrong?

Does the FAQ entry shed any light on your issue? Now that firefox is so popular we've found that many users either haven't set up IE to connect to the internet or have left an old proxy configuration in the IE connection settings.

I'm a little confused though, your post seems to imply that you are having trouble with direct downloads from the Sourceforge release system. Does the this link to the package work for you? If not, does this direct link to the file on Sourceforge work?

Occasionally we see problems with the release system where users are completely unable to download files which appears to be during busy traffic periods. Quite often things just work at a different time of day. Sorry I can't provide a more comprehensive answer for you, this one does seem to be affected by the phase of the moon.

Hey,
Thanks a lot for the help. I reset the configuration settings in IE and after that, even though the same message popped up, clicking retry worked and the install fully completed.
Ive just received a DSTT cartridge and 2Gb micro-sd card and....a Robotic vacuum cleaner(!!!!) for Christmas....I can't wait to get on with some of my own homebrew...once again, cheers for the help and Merry X-mas!!!
