"Mod Tracker" on real GBA using MaxMod?

Post by Datathrash » Sun Jul 29, 2012 6:42 am

I'm looking into tools for programming a "mod tracker" or sample tracker that runs on GBA hardware much like LSDJ for original gameboy or LGPT for Gamepark handhelds. Actually, exactly like LGPT but on different hardware.
With all the mod players available and the apparent power of stuff like MaxMod I'm afraid there's something I don't know about that is preventing a sample tracker from already existing.
For example: Is the processing power needed to feed the sound engine in real time just to much? No easy way to send screen data to it?
Or is it just a lack of interest/need?

BTW, thanks for the incredible resources you guys maintain!

Maxmod is intended (and optimized) to be used in a game with a soundbank containing preconverted modules and sound effects. You cannot create a handheld tracker with it for this reason.
